I am very excited to announce the upcoming debut of my latest military history book, “Montgomery vs. Rommel at El Agheila 1942: Duel at the Gates of Egypt,” published by Pen & Sword Military.
This book is a result of my longtime enthusiasm for studying the war in North Africa and my interest in the generalship of both Rommel and Montgomery.
The desert war tends to get a short shrift in many histories these days. To me it was a monumental chapter in military history that shaped the outcome of World War II. As leaders, Montgomery and Rommel would be vital in making high-level strategic decisions throughout the war. The desert tested them and forged who they would become. I explore many themes in this book, including the overlooked but important impact of the North African campaign on the Italo-German alliance and how politics and media affected the battlefield.
It was fun to write, and I certainly hope readers will find each chapter an enjoyable whirl through the sands of the Sahara.
More to come. Meanwhile, check out the full book description here!
